  2. Wind Mitigation Grant Awards – After receiving a wind mitigation inspection, eligible homeowners can apply for grants to make improvements to their homes, with the state providing $2 in grants for every $1 the homeowner provides (up to $10,000).

Owners of site-built, single-family residential homes can apply for a free wind mitigation inspection.

Homeowners who have received a wind mitigation inspection and meet the following criteria may be eligible for a matching grant:

  1. Proof of homestead exemption
  2. Documentation of home insurance for less than $500,000
  3. Home located in the wind-borne debris region of the state
  4. Building permit issued prior to January 1, 2008
  5. Agreement to re-inspect the home after construction work is completed.

You can apply for a free wind mitigation inspection by visiting the program’s website.
